Our original "on the bag" recipe for Cajun 15 Bean Soup.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lbs. of regular or mild Italian sausage
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 15 oz. can stewed or diced tomatoes
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced

Cooking Directions ( reviews )

  1. Soaking: Place beans in a large pot, cover with 2 quarts of water. Allow Beans to soak overnight, or at least 8 hours.
  2. After soaking, drain water, add 2 quarts of water. Bring beans to boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 2 ½ hours.
  3. In a skillet, sauté onion, garlic and sausage until sausage is browned.
  4. Drain excess grease and add contents to beans along with tomatoes, lemon juice and Cajun flavor packet.
  5. Simmer another 30 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.

Best Bean Soup in the world would suggest it to anyone. Trouble is no store's carry it right now in midwest everyone out of it

I love this 15 bean soup, I add 1/2 cup of butter,2 cans of drained white corn, 1 large can of crushed tomatoes and 2 cans of cut small potatoes, 2 pounds of ground Italion sausage with 1 onion and a tablespoon of minced garlic. a great summer time chilli not too spicy and pretty healthy too.

I add Andouille sausage. Great product. I have trouble finding HamBeens in NJ. When we travel I look for it to bring home.
